Major Bruce
Sage has been a resident of Coral Springs for over 15 years. He
is a former member of the Code Enforcement Board (11 years), a
little league baseball coach, and has sponsored soccer and flag
football teams.
He recently retired from the US Army with over 29 years of
service in the active and reserve components. He achieved the
rank of Command Sergeant Major (CSM) and was last assigned as a
Brigade Command Sergeant Major in the 108th Division,
Institutional Training. During his 29 plus years of service he
was trained in Communications Equipment Repair, Transportation
Management, Logistics and Combat Engineering. He began his
service during the Viet Nam War. During the first Gulf War, he
served as a Casualty Notification Officer. Some of his other
assignments included but were not limited to: Non-Commissioned
Officer Academy Instructor, Non-Commissioned Officer Academy
Course Director, Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Commandant,
Reception Station Command Sergeant Major-Egypt,
Observer/Controller 412th Engineer Command-Chicago, First
Sergeant-834th AG Company-Miami & Korea, Chief Logistician 143rd
Transportation Command-Orlando, Chief of Logistics Joint Forces
Command-Operation Roving Sands, Communications Equipment
Repairman-Alternate National Military Command Center-Maryland.
He is a
graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY (A.A.S.,
B.F.A. Photographic Science), the United States Army Sergeants
Major Academy, Fort Bliss, TX (B.S. Strategic Planning) and the
United States Army Command Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss,
TX.
As a civilian, he is the Building Official for the Florida
Turnpike Authority and Department of Corrections. He also owns
and operates an environmental testing company and home
inspection business.
He is married to Stacey
Sage and has four children. His son Alex is currently a Cadet
1lt.
Lieutenant and Executive Officer in the Civil Air Patrol. He is
also a Cadet Captain in the Junior Reserve Officer’s Training
Corps at his high school.
Bruce was appointed Commanding Officer of the Coral Springs
Cadet Squadron on 14 June 2005.
He has
led the Coral Springs Cadet Squadron to achieve the 2006
Florida Wing Cadet Squadron of Distinction, 2006 Frank G.
Brewer Memorial Aerospace Organization Award, 2007 National
Squadron of Merit and the 2007 National Squadron of
Distinction.
