On Saturday 04-MAR-2006 members of Coral Springs Cadet Squadron donated three hours of their weekend towards community service in order to participate in The Broward County 29th Annual Waterway Cleanup. Over 300 volunteers responded to Riverside Park in Coral Springs at 0900 hours and were dispatched to various canals in and around Coral Springs to retrieve trash that found its way into our canal system that runs throughout South Florida.

Equipped with gloves, garbage bags and sticks, Cadets and Senior Members collected debris of all kinds and redirected the fruits of their labor into dumpsters. Some of the more interesting items collected included a trampoline, a paddleboat and a number of automobile tires, hubcaps and rims.

Coral Springs City Commissioner Roy Gold took time out to personally thank members from Coral Springs Cadet Squadron for their ongoing support and devotion to Coral Springs and their work during the 29th Annual Broward County Waterway Cleanup. In addition Community Service Certificates, participants were given free T-Shirts, bottled water and ice cream certificates for their efforts. Volunteer participation levels exceeded expectations and contributed towards a cleaner environment.
