The Coral Springs CAP Squadron volunteers at
the Art Festival

Three years ago members of the Coral Springs government decided that the city
needed an outdoor art fair to help celebrate the arts in the city. The
city had already begun to display public art throughout the city but wanted to
have a festival to celebrate what art brings to a community. Their goal
was to create an outdoor street fair like the event on Las Olas Blvd. The
members formed a committee, The Coral Springs Festival of the Arts Organization,
and enlisted Howard Alan Events to provide the artists from around the nation.
The proceeds from the art festival benefit the Coral Springs
Museum of Art and other nonprofit agencies that work to bring art to the
community.

The Civil Air Patrol Coral Springs Squadron volunteered this year
again, to assist and serve the Coral Springs community. Gisele
Rahael, the Vice President of the Coral Springs Festival of the Arts, awarded
the squadron a Certificate of Appreciation, commending and thanking the
squadron.
Commanded by Captain Bruce Sage, both senior officers and cadets
spent the weekend of March 17, 18, 2007 attending to the safety of citizens and
traffic in the area, along with other volunteers and of course the Coral Springs
police department.
The fair also features other types of art besides the visual.
There are stages where performing art skits will take place as well as dance,
theater skits and many literary demonstrations. The venue where this event takes
place, The Walk on University Drive, has many stores that get involved with the
production of the art show. Many stores, such as Kilwins, put out tables
sampling their products.
Coral Springs is a family community located about a half hour
north of Fort Lauderdale and south of Boca Raton, Florida. Coral Springs is a
fairly new city, just passing its 43rd anniversary. The city is known for its
beautiful and abundant parks, quality schools and friendly neighborhoods. It's
why people flock here to raise their families.
The Walk is a newly built complex on University Drive between
Royal Palm and Sample Road. It features a mix of stores for every taste
including a surf shop, a shoe boutique, restaurants and more. The Walk was
created to bring people out and enjoy what Coral Springs has to offer.
