Florida Winter Nationals 2006
29-JAN-2006 Coral Springs Cadet Squadron Cadets took advantage of the great South Florida weather and participated in the Florida Winter Nationals 2006 located at Roth Farms in Belle Glades, Florida. 1st Lt. John Edwards, Model Rocketry Officer, FL WG and 1st Lt. Mitch Drucker escorted the cadets to this rocketry event. Special thanks to FSA-TWP and club president Rick Boyette and his entire membership for accommodating the cadets from Coral Springs with launch range access, education and discounted launch fees.
Cadets launched several low powered rockets during the day and participated in rocket recovery efforts. Some of the higher powered rockets flew 10,000 feet or higher as the event had FAA waiver to 15,000 feet. During the day the Cadets enjoyed visiting the food services and other vendors who were at the launch site. Some of the high powered rockets measured in excess of 15 feet!!!! Multiple High Powered Rockets were launched during the day in drag racing competitions. Contrails from the rockets dominated the sky during this fantastic day. Thanks to FL WG and Model Rocketry Officer, 1ST Lt. John Edwards for participating and providing the cadets from Coral Springs Cadet Squadron with a memorable experience.
