Cadets and Senior Members from the Coral Springs Cadet Squadron continued their close community partnership with The City of Coral Springs during the Memorial Day commemoration ceremony which was held at Veterans Park on Monday 29-MAY-2006. 1st Lt. Joan Fedun proudly sang our National Anthem. C/2nd Lt. Mathew DiLeonardo played taps, while members of the Squadron presented the colors and assisted in the placing of the wreath.

The featured speaker at the commemoration was Roy H. Anderson, Commander, Coral Springs American Legion Post #178 who enlisted in the US Navy on December 31, 1942 at the age of 17. Roy proudly announced to the crowd that the future home of the Coral Springs American Legion Post 178 would proudly share their new planned Legion Hall at Veterans Park with Coral Springs Cadet Squadron.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with almost 60,000 volunteer members nationwide. It performs 95% of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center. Volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counter drug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members take a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the almost 25,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs.
